Just in case you were wondering...

Just in case you were wondering, this:
(between the needles) is how much knitting you can do on a sock whilst waiting in the Emergency room at the hospital after your husband has had a spill off his pushbike.

Sigh.
And this is the outcome:
Plaster from the upper arm to the wrist, to treat a fractured radius (I think) up near the elbow. With any luck, he won't have to have the plaster for the next 6 weeks. Hopefully it will be off sooner. We'll find out later this week...

Holy crap!! Poor husby!! It's a good thing he's got a stay at home wife to tend to his every need.

Send him our love and tell him Sean is good on what to do for entertainment when you're in plaster for ages.

Good knitting opportunity though! he he For you I mean, not him. God, imagine if we had arms in plaster!!!!! Thank God he's not a knitter.

Ouch! Hope that it heals well.

Poor AB - good well wishes heading his way. Send him our love. This exercise stuff is mighty dangerous! I think knitting is a far better option - you get to exercise your arms without risk of greater injury unless you suffer was hunger due to overwork and not knowing what the time is!

Sock Victim and I send out sympathies - and he said "falling off your bike sucks hard"

This is yet another example to prove my theory that any form of purposeful exercise is dangerous to one's health.

But it is awful for you both to have such an accident happen. I hope the healing process is speedy.

Ow! The Wicked Hill of 'Ville claims another victim!

We hope he has a speedy recovery - let us know if we can help in any way!

Poor DH. Sounds very painful.

For us Americans, what exactly is a pushbike?

Rose Red said...

Sorry! Lucky I didn't write "pushie" which is what I originally had! A pushbike is a bicycle! More specifically, a racing bike, rather than a mountain bike.

I suppose I could say something sarcastic here, but having landed in the ER myself a time or three I'm no one to judge.

Hugs to you for surviving the insanity. Here's hoping he heals well, and cleanly. If Sean doesn't have enough ideas, tell him to contact me for MORE ideas of what to do with your arm in plaster. Once he heals to some degree, I'm told (by orthopedic surgeons) that it's best to NOT sit around, but riding his bike may be a bit much.

We're all just big kids, aren't we?

Oh, poor guy! What a bummer! (What's a push bike?) Hope he isn't it too much pain. Such a drag, though, to have to navigate with one arm in a cast! (Thank goodness he's not a knitter, eh?)

Love your sock, too - thank God for knitting because otherwise what would you DO in an emergency room but go out of your mind worrying?

Aw, poor guy! At least it wasn't worse, AND you had your knitting!

Oh, if The Labradors were they they would 'lick' your Husband into wellness in no time at all!! It's an ill sock wind.....

Distal radius fracture - very common when someone comes off a bike and lands on outstretched hands...

Get well A. x

Alwen said...

Ouch!

And I have to confess, I did think "Good thing at least that he wasn't the knitter."

I hope he is well soon and a good patient.

Silver linings with the knitting!

Also, good thing you didn't say he was riding a treadly! Have you heard that one?

Oh dear - hugs and chocolate all round I think - hugs to you both - but hospital knitting is what keeps us from tearing out other peoples throats after we've been waiting 3 hours in emergency

Hope he doesn't need the 6 week plaster options!

Ouch! I hope he heals soon. Did the bike come off any better?

From the Mum of three boys who has spent an inordinate amount of time in ER with them over the years.

Oh no! Sending 'get well wishes' his way!

Oh no, I hope it heals soon and he isn't in too much pain.

Poor Mr. Red! Hope he heals up soon. A tiny word of advice... waiting on a patient hand and foot tends to make for longer convalescence.

Hugs to you both!

And here I am just about to get the bike out of the garage for the first ride of the spring.....

Aye carumba! And ouch even! Hope Husby feels better soon!

Oooh - poor Mr Red! My husby had a fall off his bike recently, and all I can say is I hope your patient is more patient than mine was! Hope he's not in too much pain.

Michelle said...

Holy smokes! That's a hell of a lot of knitting, and a hell of a plaster cast! I hope for husby's sake that a) the drugs are good, and b) it's a quick heal.

Michele said...

ouch! hope it heals quickly. you are such a good wife.

Hope your husband is feeling better now. Good to have your knitting around & stay calm. I was able to knit quite a bit when I was waiting for my turn for a day surgery.

I disappear for a while and miss out on many things! I hope he's feeling better... has he learnt his lesson about trying to x-treme downhill riding in populated surburbs? ;) (Feel better soon Mr Red!)
