Tour de Bruegel

I know, I've been a pretty slack blogger the last few weeks (oh, ok, months!). I don't know why but I haven't really felt the blogging mojo much. Interesting, in a time when lots of people are going even more public in an online way with their day to day activities (facebook, twitter, I'm looking at you!) that I've retreated a little bit. I suppose it's party because since I've been off work I've been a much more social knitter in real life.

The point of this introduction is by way of providing an apology for not blogging at all about my Tour de France KAL project - until today - the last day of the three week race! I decided to race for the yellow jersey (ie complete a whole project during the tour) and my chosen project is Bruegel, a lovely (but of course!) aran weight cabled cardigan from Rowan 44, using Rowan Kid Classic.

And so we reach the last day and here is my progress:
I'm pretty darn pleased with it, if I do say so myself! I took this photo earlier today, and so I've now finished the right front - now all I have to do is knit the collar/band pieces (on the held stitches you can see on each front piece). And of course block and seam. But if I get the knitting done, I'll consider that a win!

oh yes, definitely a win! Those cables are just incredible and I adore the really deep cuffs.

If I'd taken on something like that instead of my dead easy cardigan, I'd have been keeping away from the blog more and just getting on with it. It's going to be beautiful.

that's a stellar effort, well done!

I love the deep cuffs too - everything I'm drawn to lately seems to have them

Wow. That is a huge accomplishment - and beautifully done! I can't wait to see it on! I go through stages with the blogging thing, too... But I always look forward to your posts whenever you DO choose to write them; you're such a great writer.

That's a gorgeous sweater!! I love the cables, the color, all of it.

I'll be taking a blog break soon... sometimes it's just necessary, don't you think?

That was a challenge! It's gorgeous. And I hear you about the blogging thing. It's hard sometimes. I was going to say maybe it's the lazy summer days but then I remembered it's winter for you.

A sweater in three weeks? I struggle to do a pair of socks in that time.

Awesome job.

It looks like it's going to be completely stunning when you've finished it. I know what you mean about retreating sometimes. I find that my desire to put myself out there ebbs and flows depending on what else is going on in my life, or just how I'm feeling. It's great reading what you post, whenever you feel like posting it though, so no need to apologise or feel bad for not doing it more than you feel the urge.

It looks just as stunning as it does in real life.

You have done an amazing amount of work in the 3ish weeks of The Tour.

Awesome work!

I think I love those cables. Can't wait to see the finished item!

The sweater is gorgeous & in my favorite color. I feel the same about blogging & all that is happening online. I don't want to be sitting in front of the computer for hours so I only limit myself to about 2 hours a day.

It looks utterly gorgeous - I can't wait to see pics of you wearing it! Mmmm 0 need to go back and look at Rowan 44 I think.....

Love the pattern on the cuffs, and the cables look so effective in that yarn. Good luck with getting the collar/band pieces completed and attached, it will be lovely to see it on.

What a stunning piece, I love those cables!! You definitely get a yellow jersey, and a huge bottle of champagne to spray all over your clothes ... oh wait, maybe that's not such a good idea ;)

Know just what you mean about retreating, and having time out from online life. We all got on quite well enough before the internet, and blogs, and Facebook, didn't we! I refuse to Twitter, it's just one step too far for me ...
