All things socks

I've been thinking about socks a lot lately, and sort of wishing I'd done "summer of socks" - because, seriously, even though it is still officially winter here, it is so totally summer weather that it is kind of freaking me out. Are we going to have winter weather in summer? Or just a really really really hot summer? It's a mad freaky weather world right now.

Ahhhh, weather, the best topic for conversations...what was I actually talking about? Yes, socks (which is clearly so much more interesting). A couple of weeks ago, I counted all the potential socks I have. At that time, it was 26 (that sum has since risen to over 30...how does this happen!!). Then I counted how many pairs of socks I've made - 11. I started knitting socks in about April 2006. So in 16 months, I've made 11 pairs of socks. And I've currently got enough sock yarn to last me at least 2 or 3 years. Will that stop me buying more sock yarn? I suspect not...and do I care? Not a jot!

Since I washed most of Husby's and my socks on the weekend, I thought I'd do a little photo shoot (inspired by a similar picture I saw posted on Flickr). All the pretties!
And in other socky news, my sockapalooza sockpal, M, received her socks - hurrah! Mine are almost on their way - my sockpal contacted me yesterday to let me know they were blocking as she typed - how exciting!

Oh will you look at that! Gorgeous. I love the signature red bits. Nice work.

I must do an inventory of my sock wool, too. You know, we should hold a southern hemisphere summer of socks, don't you think?

Don't worry. We had an unusually mild winter and it was still very hot this summer. I'm just happy when there's no snow.

Such a lovely assortment of socks!

Love your socks & their color combination. I have not counted how many pairs of socks I have knitted in the last 1 year - I just love knitting them!

On the other side of the world the weather is not looking much like summer, so your socks are greatly appreciated!!

Lovely, lovely socks! Handknit socks are the best kind, definitely. And 11 pairs in 16 months, gee you're fast!!

My new rule is that for every pair of socks I make for someone else, I make one for me. As i am now finishing my monkeys from the Art Walk SOTM club for my daughter, the next pair will be mine. I think it's the only way i will bet to know the joy of hand made socks!

Very pretty pinwheel! I am finishing up my summer of socks... I don't know why I totally lose interest after summer's over - it makes no sense, but I do. Obsessed one minute, can't stand them the next. Am finishing my Rose Red- inspired Jaywalkers - practically as we speak - and then am done till next year.

That's a lot of socks! But with socks, the more, the merrier. LOVE yours.

Hey RR, did you include the ones you made for me and your bro. Usually I wouldn't be excited about socks but yours are so nice to look at. What a great sense of achievement you must have
