Lucky I make some notes sometimes

Going through my wardrobe last week I found this doily:I thought it looked familiar and wandered around the house until I found this one:I know they look the same so just to prove I'm not trying to pull the old crochet swifty on you, this photo will help, no doubt:I remembered making one of these but couldn't for the life of me remember making the other one. Lucky I still have the pattern book with my notes of when I made them...shame I didn't note the thread used or hook size, so the rest of this is a guestimate!

Details
Pattern:
Runner #33 from Lace for Beginners published by Nihon Vogue, 1984 - this is actually a great pattern book if you are looking for crochet doilies!! All patterns are charted too, which I really like.
Yarn: Larger runner - crochet cotton #20, smaller runner - crochet cotton #40
Hook: 1.25mm (lge) and 1.00 mm (sml)
Time: Don't remember which I made first, but one was done 7 May 2002 - 8 June 2002 (that's pretty quick for me!), the other 22 December 2003 - 9 April 2004

I'm sorry, crochet swifty?

I can't tell you how that made me laugh. Honestly, what a giggle.

They are stunning RoseRed. Your work is just lovely. I admire what you do so very much. I'm such a fan.

Wow.

I crochet, but I'd never consider using *thread* to do it.

That's so impressive.

Crochet! Wowsers. I don't think I have ever known anyone who actually made a doily! I am impressed.

These are so pretty, even more so on the red (of course!) background. I'm quite positive I wouldn't have the patience at all.

This is so pretty! I'm flat out crocheting with a 3 mm hook - can't imagine doing it with something so small and the thread too!

Beauteous! (Is that a word? I don't know. In any case, very, very pretty. Like the bookmark you made me, which I admire every night when I get the chance to read my three daily pages. Is that a share-able pattern?)

I keep running into crocheted doilies! I want to do it!!! I have done some filet crochet in years past and am ready to pick it up again but when!!!! I have 8 knitting projects on needles! I did go buy new crochet needles and some thread and I have patterns. time awaits.
Your work is stunning! Skill and patience I'm sure!

Look, a pair of pretties!!! (just got off work, brain is mush, vocab. is shot, pretty is the best i can come up with) It actually took me a few minutes to see the smaller one layered on top of the larger one (brain. is. so. mush.), and I am amazed that except for scale, they are perfect matches. Your crochet is lovely, especially considering the size 1 needle and the thread it's made with. Bravo! Good show!!!
