And I do like them. A lot. I remember seeing them (or at least, the original designer ones these were SO CLEARLY "inspired" by) in a magazine and I even cut the picture out and kept it. They were just so fabulous. So so fabulous!
And when I saw these copies on huge reduction, I had to have them. In my size and all - I was so excited.
But see this, this thing that I very easily ignored when I bought them?
Yes, it's a pretty darn high heel (even by my standards!)
And what with the strappiness and the floppy ankle tie and the skyscraper heel, I just don't have that many places to wear these babies. Which means I haven't worn them for at least 2 or 3 years. So I was thinking that makes them a mistake...
But can shoes this magnificent ever be a mistake?

Well I don't know - it depends how much you consider yourself a collector. Collectors will own shoes they want to have but not necessarily wear.
I like them except for the thin strap bit. It looks uncomfortable! But I suppose comfort is not the point of skyscraper heels!
Are you an aficionado of Project Runway? Last night's episode visited Juli's shoe and bag collection, worth she said, rather quietly, about $40,000.
Nuff said.
For what it's worth, you can never go wrong with black. Oh yes and what m1k1 said, I saw Juli's room with all her shoes and bags, in a whole room - her sanctuary I believe she called it. I lusted after it, then took one look at my teeny tiny wardrobe LOL.
I love them!
I'd love them more if they were flatties though.
I'm just picturing what position you were really in to take that last photo!!!!
They are beautiful and impractical but definitely more magnificent than mistake!
Oh my god! I have those exact shoes!
They are magnificent, but almost impossible to wear for long periods (like walking round London for four hours solid).
Shoes that magnificent are definitely never a mistake!
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!
I've just cleared out my shoe closet and tossed twelve pairs, which my daughter quickly snapped up and is selling on eBay.
The shoes this spring are simply lovely ... so enjoy your Shoesday.
Wow! I can see how they don't get a whole lot of use, but on the days you need a shoe like that, you have THE perfect pair, so that's the trade-off, I guess. And how much room does a pair of shoes like that take? Not much, right?
What?! Those are FABULOUS shoes! I could have worn those last weekend to the wedding I went to. So cute!
The thin bits look like they hurt. But we put up with a little pain now and then, don't we? I have always loved strappy sandals but I think they make my feet look puffy by the end of the day.
What do you want? Shoes you can wear or shoes that make you believe you lead the kind of life in which you can wear this kind of shoe? They're wonderful1
Those are most certainly NOT a mistake. I love those to pieces!
they are indeed completely magnificent - im sure practicality is not a criteria for magnificence! they look great on too.
I'm loving them, but I understand the anguish. I have finally broken myself of the habit of buying stiletto heels. I used to wear them all the time. I used to be able to run in them. And then I stopped wearing them, and now I can't walk in them, but I kept buying them for a really long time.
Now I buy flats. They're not nearly as exciting.
As a short person, I'm not sure one can ever have heels that are too tall. In fact, when shopping for a pair of replacement black knee-high boots, I have rejected several pairs as being too short in the heel. And these shoes are surely not a mistake. You may not wear them often, but if you ever have need of them, you know they are there, waiting to come out and make you taller and make your whole outfit just a little more glamorous.
I really like them... 4" heel and all.. very cute!
magnificent!
magnificent from me too. I could never wear those heels though..eek!
I think shoes like that you just have to have, even if they don't get worn!
Holly bug squashers!!!
