But even though she didn't mention it once while she was here, her visit did make me feel guilty that I STILL have not finished the lace shawl I started for her in April 2007 (!!!). The last time I knit on it was April this year! Oh dear! So I pulled it out on Sunday after she'd gone home and realised I'm just over half way done (a bit more than I thought - hurrah!).
(sorry about the crappy photo - it's too long to fit anywhere to photograph easily!)
I know I can't get it finished by Christmas, but her birthday is in early April, so I figure I've got 5 months (including November!) to finish it - that's 10% per month, or 40 rows - totally do-able, right?
In fact, since Sunday, I've done two repeats - that's 16 rows - only 24 more to go until the end of November! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

of course its doable, says she who cant manage more than 5 rows of xmas knitting a day. but its worth perservering, april will be very good timing and that is just beautiful, she will love it. imagine the look on her face!
You can do it! You can do it! I know you can! It'll be SO good to have it finished and I haven't seen it in so long so it's nice to see what it looks like again!
Absolutely, when you say it like that, it's ten rows a week. That's a doddle!! I think I remember this, or my mind is going. Glad you are well and how lovely to have a visit from your mum!!
That's a lovely shawl (you know I'm a sucker for colours!!) - and I agree with Cindy - Doddle at ten rows per week!
Gorgeous colours. Love the way they let the pattern shine through.
Ten rows a week is perfectly manageable for a dutiful daughter...particularly when there is such a lovely outcome.
Oh, it's pretty! I'm sure you can do it - and who knows? Sometimes you pick those long lost WIPs up and they take off and you can't remember why you ever put them down. And sometimes you remember right away...
Glad you had a nice visit with your mom! I was getting worried!
You can so do it!
It was great to meet your mum too!
It's beautiful. Your mom should love it. Trust me. Moms love anything their children make. Anything. Even when their children are grown.
Gorgeous shawl! And you are so wise to break the project into managable bits. Ten rows a week is SO do-able!
Oh, how pretty! I can't wait to see this shawl finished.
sure you can do it. and it's so pretty. hope you had a good visit.
It's lovely!
And just think, it's rested and ready to be knitted on again.
To quote an old song [can't even remember which one] - "Go on girl, you can do it"
The shawl looks great & I am sure you can finish it by April. Good luck!
Just curious about the pattern...your own or a published one? It looks interesting so far.
Oh and are sure it isn't twins? Verification word "bogiryl" which to me is just "boy girl" a bit muddled up :-)
