Keeping Track - September 2010

I was doing ok this month...until I was handed the chance to have a personal shopper, of sorts, at the Wollmeise shop in Germany, thanks to AuntyToots, who made a special trip there on her honeymoon. I've long admired the colourwork done by many talented knitters using Wollmeise, and in particular the undyed yarn paired with any of the vibrant coloured yarns - I don't know how often the undyed yarn comes up in the shop updates, so I took the opportunity so kindly offered and now am the proud owner of two undyedskeins of Wollmeise. Weeee! Thanks Helen!
And my other purchase this month was a single ball of Noro Silk garden sock yarn, which was bought for a project I'm very excited to be starting in October.
And even though prize yarn doesn't count, I can't not show off this lovely stuff - 8ply/DK Patonyle (it's more of a deep tealy/jade green than this picture shows)! Thanks Leonie!
On the outs I didn't do so well -socks take a long time to knit and don't use much yarn! Hopefully I'll do better on the outs next month!

In: 8 x 50g balls
Out: 1.5 x 50g balls
YTD: 35.5 x 50g balls - woops, my monthly average has gone up...almost 4 balls per month.

So, very mysterious...
(a) why do you want undyed Wollmeise and
(b) what are you intending to make with the Noro?

oh wow. So much good stuff. I've been admiring the use of undyed wollmeise recently on my rav travels. I'm intrigued!

New project! Yay!

And 8ply patonyle!! I must have my head under a rock - I didn't know there was such a thing!

I never think of Wollmeise as being a stash acquisition, but rather an Investment in my Future Growth as a Crocheter.

Hope you enjoy using the Noro Silk Garden Sock. I used the plain old regular Noro sock and had a bugger of a time with it ... but the results were so pretty it was totally worth it in the end!

Please knit the 8ply Patonyle and tell us what it is like???

Pretty! But now I'm left so curious! What are you making?! I have a love/hate relationship with Noro. Currently I'm in the middle of Knitty's Lizard Ridge Afghan, and it's so magical you can't help but love it, even with all the knots and the color changes and the hidden ugly, seemingly non-matching colors hidden in the depths of each ball...

I admire the Noro, but I've somehow managed to avoid adding it to my stash - so far!

I've never had any Wollmeise yarn before and I know on Ravelry, lots of people go crazy over them!!!! How are they like?

Noro yarns are beautiful colour wise, but texture wise, I don't quite like the feel :(

Can't wait to see you dye up the Wollmeise. I don't count my stash & I think Sept was a bad month of many acquisitions.

I still haven't seen Wollmeise in person. I must work on that!

I always admire you for being honest with us and yourself about the yarn supply!
