SHOESday: mmmm comfortable

So as of this evening, I am officially on holidays until early January! Woo hoo!

But don't get too jealous - the rest of this week will be spent packing, ready to move to our new house next Monday. And then the rest of next week will be spent unpacking and putting stuff away. And probably changing my mind about where to put stuff so re-putting it away. And moving furniture. And re-moving it. And maybe moving it again.

But I'm not complaining, not really. I can't wait to be in our new place!

And what's this to do with SHOESday?

Because these are the shoes I'll be wearing most for the next 4 weeks:
I bought these birks on my first trip to Europe, way back in 1996 (before husby and I were married even!). We did an organised tour, and one of the American girls bought a pair in Germany. I thought they were so great, I had to have a pair too. But by that time we'd left Germany, so I picked these up in Switzerland. I've got a great photo of us lying upside down on a lounge with our feet in the air, flashing our birks!
And you know I can't just have a pair in one colour, here's the alternate (bought these ones in Singapore about 3 years ago):
Ok, pick yourselves up off the floor - I don't wear fancy schmancy heels all the time!!

birkenstocks, right?

Ok, I am posting my blue ones next week. I swear!

oh I see, you actually said birks in the first line. Duh. I was mentally scanning for the full word!

Mine are next week, as I said.

We should totally have a birkie show and tell next Tuesday!

I love your orange ones! (of course I do)

Good luck with the big move.

If it were me, I'd be needing boots with steel reinforced caps, on account of the likelihood of droppage on said feet whilst packing etc, but I think your choices are much more decorative.

They look like perfect lounging around shoes. Like m1k1, I'd be afraid of dropping things on my toes (I do that alot). I'd probably wear sneakers all week.

Those birks look comfortable & they should be good for your move. All the best on your packing & unpacking - I have done that 15 times in the last 25 years & my biggest move was 7 years ago - from Singapore to Perth.

Hey,all the best with your move! Such a stressful time of year to be doing it too. The shoes look perfectly comfortable for the task.

Good Luck!

Hope the move goes smoothly. Take a trip to Greta's at Lindfield if you need some stress relief. The little cafe on the eastern side of Roseville station does good weekend breakfasts too.

Good thing I vacuumed yesterday, or I'd be brushing off the dog hair and dust from my falling over at the sight of those ;)! Happy, happy vacation! Happy, happy moving day! Can't wait to hear all about it! (Does it rain on moving day in Australia, too, or is that just here?)

I hope the move goes well for you and that you have plenty of time to enjoy the fun aspects of moving. I kind of wished we'd managed to move when it was warmer out, since it was freezing (literally) the whole time we were moving. We were all bundled to the point you could hardly tell one person from another.

I'm sure those comfy shoes will be just what you need with all the work that's coming ahead. But at least you're on vacay!

lol - yes i'm on the floor! i was sure anything like this would be a deep dark secret gathering dust under your bed. enjoy your new home and your time away from the paid work!

Happy holidays and have a wonderful move: I hope everythiong arrives safely. I had moved 13 times in 8 years until I came to live here (20 years next year!!) but the last move was the worst, I moved about 400 metres down the road and around the corner!!! Do look after your toes!!

We moved into our house about this time of year, too!

I remember we had a thaw and no snow, got everything moved in, and then had a blizzard.

Ah Birkenstock, a tradition since 1774!

I LOVE my Birkis - haven't been without a pair for about 20 years now! I wished they looked sexy and elegant as well as being comfortable, but hey, can't have everything!
