I joined the blogging world because I wanted to be a part of this great community. I had been reading some blogs, and I figured, "hey, I can do that too (I hope)". I wanted to "meet" like minded people, share my knitting, learn from the knitting of others and just be a part of it - comment on people's blogs, have comments on mine, participate in swaps and so on. And for me, an introvert and reknowned non-joiner, that was a big step. A big safe step, I know - because the internet doesn't require one-on-one or one-in-a-group interaction, it is easier to get out there, and you can hide what you want and reveal what you want.
Over the past year I have learnt a lot about people, about myself, about knitting and other crafting but most importantly, and the thing I am most grateful for, is that I have found a bunch of friends. Some I've met in real life (a thing I would never have contemplated before blogging) and some I've met through letters, and I've even started a new blog with one. I feel blessed to be a part of such a large, diverse, overwhelmingly generous, funny and caring community.
So I'm sharing the love and sending out a big Thankyou. As some of you might recall, I went to New York earlier this year - and you thought I bought all that yarn for me - well no! Some of it is for you!
Some lovely yarn which is hard to get in Australia, is set aside for you Aussie bloggers out there - some Mmmmmmmalabrigo for one lucky blogger, some Koigu (which is more vibrant burgundies and brown/blacks and not quite as dark as in the pic) for another blogger and an interesting one, Classic Elite Miracle - a 50/50 alpaca/tencel blend - very soft - would make a lovely scarf or squooshy hat (it's a little greener than it appears, a lovely soft olivey-green) for a 3rd blogger.
Clearly as I can't leave out everyone else (my hordes of international readers - heh!), there's a little something something for one of you too - a lovely Australian yarn, Jo Sharp Alpaca Kid Lustre (which just might be left over from this - because you can always put those extra "just in case" balls of yarn to good use by sharing the love). So leave a comment if you'd like to go into the draw - let me know where you are from (country is enough) - I'll draw it next Wednesday and reveal the lucky winners! Lurkers and first time visitors welcome!

Happy, happy blogiversary! Hoe we meet up again sometime soon :)
Happy First Birthday Rose Red! To paraphrase something a mutal friend said much more elegantly: "I like what you write and I like to read what you have to say",(apologies to bells) so keep on saying it!

PS - MUST. HAVE. KOIGU.
Happy Blogiversary!! And thanks for thinking of us Americans on the 4th of July. :)
How very sweet of you to bless your Aussie friends with your US trip stash!! Wow!! The Jo Sharp would be sooooo nice. I've ever knit with it.
I think I owe you a letter!
Congratulations on your blogiversary from the US!
Congratulations on your first year! I'm one of the lucky ones who got to know you through this magical medium. Many happy returns!
Happy blogiversary! I'm in Michigan in the US, but I did live in Sydney at one point...
Hey, uh, this might come off as weird, but would you be interested in an international swap? I could get you malabrigo or koigu or whatever you please in exchange for a big, big box of tim-tams? :-D
I started blogging for much of the same reasons you did. It has been such a positive and wonderful experience that I am glad I made the plunge into the blog pool! Happy Blogaversary Day. And many, many more!
happy blog-birthday to you, Miss Rose! Very generous of you, parting with some O.S. stash, i mustsay - plenty of yarn karma coming your way I'm sure!
Hippo birdies two ewes, hippo birdies two ewes, hippo birdies, hippo birdies, hippo birdies two ewes! (Sing to the tune of an ever popular song belted out on birthdays!)
Congratulations
Happy Blogiversary!! :) I always enjoy reading your knitting (and cooking) adventures :)
Happy Blog-a-verse-ary, I really need to set up one as I love reading your adventures...it takes the stay at home mum isolation away...congrats
Happy Bloggy bday! Your blog is a great read and I love Mouthfuls of Heaven too.
Hmmmm and I love the look of that Malabrigo (mmmmm) nudge nudge wink wink.
Give Shazmina and Brownpants a kiss for me next time u see them, they're good real life craft buddies of mine.
Hiya and a big happy anniversary to you. I was lucky to meet you in Sydney through Bells, and I have a friend very similar in looks and voice to you and so when I see/speak to her I've often thought back to that cuppa I had with you. Keep the blogging up, people enjoy it. Carol.
Happy Bloggiversary from the USA!
Your sock looks great. I don't think the pooling/striping issue is bad. The colors are so soft I didn't really notice it until you pointed it out.
Happy Bloggy Birthday!!!
All the yarn looks lovely and I desperately need more yarn. Happy anniversary. I love all your knitting and your cooking.
Happy one year anniversary!!!
I do enjoy reading your blog (even if I don't leave comments very often!) and, of course, I'm Aussie maaate!!!
happy blogiversary!
Happy Blogiversary!
Don't comment much, due to the spam prevention driving me nuts, but I love your blog :)
Happy Blogiversary! What great yarns!! But a better prize would be the post on the secrets of stash organisation, as mentioned by Bells. As an obsessive-compulsive organiser (I left my place of employment with ALL my filing done!), I'm always keen to find out how others 'do it'!
What a lovely, generous idea! Count me in and Happy Blogiversary from Tasmania which believe it or not is part of Australia too!
Happy Blogiversary and ohhhh count me in....love it all! you are being very generous....
Happy Blogiversary to you, Happy Blogiversary to you! Happy Blogiversary dear Rose Red... Happy Blogiversary to you!
p.s. like everyone else, I can't believe you are willing (?) to send out Malabrigo or Koigu either, but we all love you for it!
Another Tasmanian here delurking to say Happy Blogiversary!
Happy 1 year anniversary. I'm in Texas and have been lurking for a few weeks since you were linked from someone else - I just can't remember who.
Happy Blogging Anniversary - love following your adventures (seen your link through Bells' blogs)....
I've been inspired to start knitting, so I'll try and post photos on my blog when I get a chance! Love your work!!
Hello There. I have just found you in a round-about way in the blogging world and wow your Aussie, NSW too. I have just finished my first beanie and very easy bed socks. Congratulations and please put me in the draw. xx
phew, I hope I just make it in for the draw!!! (QLD)
Congrats on the bloggerversary!
Happy First Blogaversary! May there be many more years of Rose Red blogging. I always enjoy reading your posts, and drooling over the red yarn, red fos, red shoes, and fooood. (Well, not literally drooling, though I suppose that might happen if I win the yarn.)
Add me if it's not too late (well, now that I think about it, it probably is because Wednesday is past for you). Oh well!
I enjoyed your Ziplock post...happy blogversary!
