My knitting book

If someone were to ask me what was the one item that was indispensable in relation to my knitting (leaving aside the obvious yarn and sticks), I think I would have to say my knitting book.
It's a simple yearly diary, given to me for Christmas by my boss (she gave one to all the people in her team). Despite a number of attempts, I am hopeless at keeping a diary, even a short daybook type of one, and if it wasn't for Outlook at work I'd never know what was going on or when people's birthdays are (and I used to be so good at that!).
Anyway, the best thing about my knitting book is that it has the days of the week on the left hand page, with the same amount of space for each day, and the right hand side is blank, for notes. So I can note what I work on every day (which I do) and then make notes about the project(s) or blog ideas or whatever.
And there's a month to a page view at the front, where I note when I cast on and finish all projects, and I keep a running tally each month (so far, I'm only just ahead in the FOs, which is my aim!). And on the blank pages at the very front and back I keep lists and how-tos - like the kitchener graft instructions, which I can never remember. I know there's a rhyme thingy but I can't remember it either. And how to do a right slanted increase, and a left slanted increase. And eye of partridge heel. It really is so handy. I carry it everywhere with me!

Oh I like the look of your notebook - good idea to use a diary. I have a small chunky spiral bound notebook which goes everywhere with me, but your diary looks much nicer. I like the way you use different parts of the book.

I'm hopeless at diaries too - I start every year with good intentions, and end up filling up the long-past weeks using my sent e-mails as a guide as to what I was up to! LOL! Where would we be without e-mail?!

Well aren't you just a clever chicken?

That's very inspiring. I started a knitting journal and just stopped. I had such good intentions.

And I like how you write in it in red!!

Love the idea of using an actual diary. I started with an ordinary lined notebook, but it fell by the wayside pretty quickly.

you're so organized! I have a small bound notebook I've labeled "knitting notes" with ideas, scraps of patterns, and lists. But the hat I'm designing now for my son is a sheaf of papers, regular and graph, full of notes and sketches. I try to type up the patterns as I go so I don't forget what my notes mean. :) But I'm hopeless at keeping track of when I start & finish things!

Very brilliant to have a knitting book. I have a journal, too, but I'm not as good at keeping it up.

Ooh I love a good diary! I'm a diary addict! I have one for the handbag, one next to the bed, one on the table, a hanging calendar, about 7 journals for different topics and ideas - even one for transit notes which includes things like: cooking and craft ideas from Dr's waiting room mags, the sizes of all my windows incase I see a curtain/blind bargain etc* it just goes on.... umm this is not including notebooks. I'll post a pic one of these days. *Makes a note*

I started one a while back but forget to update it or even to enter new projects. You've inspired me to get busy! It's nice to add a snippet of yarn and the label. Makes for a thick book in the end!
