SHOESday: Back to Black

As promised, back to the month of black. Well, this is the last SHOESday for the month, so next week there'll be something other than black, but (and I know you'll no doubt find this very hard to believe) I do have some more black shoes, so we'll return to this theme at some point in the future. As generally happens with fashion, one day you're in and the next day you're out (tee hee) ... so sometimes patent leather is in (eg the season before I bought these shoes on sale at David Jones) and then it is out. Fortunately for me, it is back in again, so even though these shoes are about 5 few years old, they still fit right in with today's trends. Not that I keep up with trends too much, I guess I'd describe my style as classic eclectic (well, my work dress style - my weekend style is just comfortable). The thing I love the most about these shoes is the heel. I couldn't get a great picture of it, but the heel is actually a hexagon, all the way up to where it meets the sole of the shoe. Each side of the hexagon curves gracefully upwards, getting wider as it nears the sole. It really is a divine little feature that makes a fairly plain black shoe so special.

Hexagons for heels! What will they think of next? Gorgeous.

I have a love/hate thing about patent leather - not that I own any, but I think they would be the kind of shoes you could hold onto as the fashion cycles go round and around.

Trend? What's that?

I havent had patent leather shoes since I was about 6 - but they were red mary janes!!

It hurts my heart a little to think that a sexy sleek black patent leather sling back wouldn't be completely stylish and modern ANY day, any year, ANY decade! These are so beautiful and timeless!

I like these black shoes! There isn't much to them and they would never really go out of style. I don't pay much attention to that anyway. If I like them, I wear them regardless of what people might be thinking.

I don't like shopping for shoes or clothes but I bought a new pair of shoes yesterday and, of course, I thought of you. Wore them to my job interview today - thought my big chunky heels were just too much out of date!

Those are the coolest heels I have ever seen! A hexagon, that's awesome. I wonder who gets to design these cool features. I'm with Momolla, I wear shoes whether they're trendy or not, I'll have to send you pictures of my newest acquisition--shiny, electric blue slingback heels. If anyone will appreciate them, it's you!

I tried to find your email to mail you the recipe for babka (if I mailed you a babka, it would be a brick by the time it got there!) but it's not listed. If you want it, let me know.
